Our little book group

The wonderful and intelligent Melissa B. wanted to start a book group with her friends. Sadly Melissa had to move on but we have continued her dream of a book group. The group seems to lose and add members all the time because we live in a place where students are in and out and families move around. But we are all joined together as friends, women, and lovers of books. If you are interested in joining please contact one of us, we would love to have you out!

Concerning meetings

Since we met late for our January book I (Katie) would like us to meet for our February book either on Thursday February 24th or Thursday March 3rd.  I have this desire so that we can stay more on schedule with our book plans, so we are meeting once a month instead of every once in awhile.

Along these lines, I would like to propose that we set aside the 4th Thursday of every month for book group.  That way we never have to question when the meeting will be or how long we have to read the book this month.  Also, I'm hoping this helps with family calendaring.  So we always know when we have book group meeting so there are never any questions about if I will be able to make it or "arguments" over when we can have book group meeting because some can't make it.  I do need to add in a disclosure for this because I know that Thursday nights are one of the only nights that Relief Society Enrichment Activities are held.  If an activity falls on this night, I suggest we just bump the meeting to the following Thursday night.

I would really appreciate some feedback on my proposal.  Please leave comments and let us know what you think.  If the majority does not like this idea then we can stick with how we have been doing things already, unless someone has a suggestion that might work better for the group.

I have really enjoyed being apart of book group for the past few years and I have enjoyed "leading" the group for the past short while.  I hope that you all are pleased with how our group is being run.  If you have any issues please bring them to my attention.

And as always, we are looking for some book choices.  Please take a look at the side bar and if there is a month you would like to pick, let me know that as well.

Thanks so much ladies!

As someone who loves her calendar, I think this is a great proposal. 4th Thursday sounds great! I'll provide my choice for May's book ASAP.
Thanks!

sounds good to me. this way we can plan ahead for it and schedule other things around it. and i like the built in clause for enrichment.

Wonderful idea! Like you said, it will let us know how much time we have to read the book and we can plan for it when we are scheduling other activities.

Last I heard, the RS has moved to one night-time activity a month (apart from the quarterly big activities), and it's supposed to always be on the same night of the week. So as long as that night isn't the 4th Thursday (I don't know what it is) then there shouldn't be any problems.

Sounds good. The 3rd would be best for me, but I could come late if we did it on the 24th.

I like this idea. I do my visiting teaching this way (have a specific day setup every month). It rocks.
